McQueen Fall/Winter 09: Adventures of a Young Man

Call us fools for the bad boys, that irresistible confidence, the thrill for danger, it all makes them pretty hard to withstand. But a well dressed bad boy? We surrender.

No one does bad quite like Alexander McQueen.

It’s seems McQueen may have had the old classics on the brain when designing his Fall/Winter 09 Menswear line. Imagine Alex from A Clockwork Orange mixed with any villain from the James Bond series and you can imagine McQueen’s latest collection, without the scars and eyelashes of course.

Thanks in part to designers like McQueen menswear is becoming more diverse in its design and more stylized in its wear, and it’s making the ladies a little jealous.

McQueen uses a neutral palette to create a slim, structured silhouette and spares no attention to detail. Quilted Jackets, pocketed trousers and detachable shearling collars have set a new precedent for borrowing the boyfriend’s blazer.

Accessories lend themselves as a major role in McQueen’s ensemble: each look is refined by a Homburg hat or a great pair of boots not to mention McQueen’s commitment to keeping skulls alive in fashion.

If this is what’s in store for menswear this autumn then we’ll be waiting for that first leaf to fall and possibly hanging out in more dangerous places.
