Alexander McQueen is an eccentric risk-taker.
The man and his designs are ever-changing the face of modern day femininity. Just have a look at his elaborate Fall/Winter ’09 collection. It’s a little of Alice in Wonderland meets KISS dressed in a red and black dogtooth dress. “Hard and ballsy showmanship” is what style.com calls his trippy collection—it’s full of spunk and McQueen swagger.
Models strut down in tailored quilted fabric, exquisitely cut jackets and shimmering floor length coats paired with umbrella hats, blood red platforms and a trashcan lid hat.
Leathers, satins, bird prints… and lions and tigers and bears, McQueen certainly doesn’t fail to disappoint in the creativity department.
Channel your inner Clockwork Orange, and bust out that bowlers hat collecting dust in your closet, because it pairs up perfectly with equestrian looks, and fox fur accents.
Yes, the theatrics were a little over done this season, but that’s McQueen- rising fashion to art status. It isn’t clothing, it is couture.
Nevertheless, prepare yourself.
With Fall/Winter ’09, expect satires of twentieth century fashion greats and revisited McQueen classics such as perfectly cut garments and show stopping vibrancy. He is electric and it buzzes through is cargo wool trousers, denim, suits and knits.
He fiercely integrates his personality into the humorous, bizarre and show stopping looks while still offering up well-tailored classics honouring his superb craftsmanship.
