Today British Vogue and The British Fashion Council announced that in celebration of the 25th anniversary of London Fashion week, they are giving one lucky Brit designer a large helping hand, and have promised the rest of the world a very stylish present.
The two have joined forces to create a new project that will assist in catapulting the chosen designer to the international stage. The annual award, similar to the Vouge/CFDA awards (which boasts in advancing the careers of talents such as Rodarte, Alexander Wang, and Proenza Schouler), will grant a UK-based designer with £200,000 or almost $330,000 USD in funding as well as access to mentoring.
With Harold Tillman, chairman of the BFC/chair of the fund and Alexandra Shulman, Editor of British Vouge, as chair of the judging panel; the talent competing for the award will surely be impressive.
Keep and eye out for the May 2010 issue of British Vouge which will detail the entire process.
We can’t wait to see what gems the Brits have in store for the rest of the world.
