Online social networking is popular with the young as well as the young at heart. So what does a century old brand do when it wants to add some current to its classic? Tap into said digital fountain of youth of course.
Art of the Trench is Burberry’s venture into social networking, putting them in line with the likes of Gucci’s Eyeweb. While Gucci’s site simply promotes its line of sunglasses, Burberry’s site allows users to post photographs of themselves in Burberry’s staple trench and browse through photos of others. Burberry has even gone as far as enlisting the Sartorialist, Scott Schuman, to assist with the inauguration of the site.
We love the inspiration the photographs give us and, Burberry or not, we can guarantee the trenches in our closets will certainly be making a more regular appearance in our outerwear rotation.
