Elvis Costello will sleep when he’s dead.
Costello, an icon of punk and new wave music, has released over 40 albums since the 70’s, and has an extensive list of compilations and collaborations.
And he’s got another one coming; the next album is to be released January 12, 2010.
The prolific 55-year-old who just won’t quit is releasing the second installment in his series of live albums, The Costello Show. Live at Hollywood High, the follow up to September’s Live at the El Mocambo, is to be released on Hip-O/UMe.
The recording is from a 1978 show at a sold out high school auditorium in Hollywood in Costello’s heyday. While a few of the tracks were reissued in 2002, more than half of the album consists of unreleased songs.
And after 40 albums, an almost-unreleased album ain’t bad.
