Canada’s Etta James?

With all eyes focused on Canada for the 2010 Winter Olympics, we might as well just set your ears alight with some up-and-coming Canadian music.

Roveena didn’t start out as a singer, but already she’s being compared to Etta James and Celine Dion. The young Tamil-Canadian studied classical piano and composition at the University of Waterloo and somehow ended up working in human resources. Go figure!

But as soon as people heard her sing they were asking her why she wasn’t pursuing her musical dream. And so that’s what she has decided to do. With a bit of radio play and a recent national television appearance in Canada, Roveena is just at the beginning of her career, but the airwaves should get ready because it looks like we might have ourselves a new soulful diva.

This may not be the best quality video, but it gives you a sense of how powerful this young lady’s vocal chords are!
